Prostatitis:

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH):

This condition usually affects men of older age group. The symptoms include gland enlargement and difficulty in urination. Other symptoms include delay in beginning the urinating or frequent use of the toilet. In some cases it is so very much enlarged that urination becomes impossible. Most often it is very painful to urinate as well. There are medications available for treating this problem.

Cancer of prostate:

If left untreated for too long it leads to serious problem and proves to be fatal. If the disease is detected at very early stages, the treatment is very effective. Rectal examinations at regular intervals are highly recommended. It is very important for you to go through regular checkups at the age of 40, especially if someone in your family has already been affected by prostrate cancer.

In some cases the individuals do not exhibit any symptoms. Except for the prostrate related symptoms, they face the issues concerning urination. However, the blood tests reveal high PSA (prostrate specific antigen) levels which are a strong indication of prostate problems.

>Treatments:

In recent times there are many different treatments for prostatitis and prostate cancer. A prostatectomy is a procedure which is used to remove a small portion of prostate tissue to keep cancer from swelling. This process involves only the removal of infected tissue. Hence prostatectomy is not a complete prostrate removal.

There are a few simple home remedies available which can be effective if you want to avoid surgery. Pumpkin seeds are a good remedy to painful and difficult urination.

A few other simple home treatments include fish, corn-silk, and soy. Corn-silk is quite helpful to treat prostate enlargement. Soy and fish both have substances which help in fighting cancer, and these substances can help prevent problems of prostrate as well. Watermelon seeds and tomatoes also prevent problems of prostrate and work well over long periods of time.

Saw palmetto also called as the sable plant, is a variety of the fan-palm family. The plant produces black maroon berries which resemble the shape and size of an olive. These berries are the medicinal elements. This plant with berries has a long-term history as a tonic and aphrodisiac for the male reproductive system.

The oil from saw palmetto is the active element for alleviating benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) symptoms and has been shown to have a noticeable effect on the production of testosterone, the male sex hormone. These certain herbal remedies are available to treat prostrate problems effectively.
